Sources of Natural Vitamins

Human body produces natural vitamins but you also need to eat fresh fruits to get all the essential nutrients the body needs.

Vitamins are naturally found in vegetables, meat, dairy products and fruits. These are organic nutrients that are essential for a fast metabolism regulation, healthy and standard growth and normal body functions. The human body naturally produces certain vitamins but it is not enough to obtain necessary vitamins. Thus, eating foods containing vitamins is very important to supply the body with all the nutrients it needs. Artificial vitamins are also produced in drug laboratories through the use of chemicals. However, synthetic vitamins are not that effective compared to the natural vitamins found in plants and food.

Vitamin A, likewise identified as beta carotene, is present in dairy products, eggs, meat, liver and fish. Beta carotene is a dye present in plants like sweet potatoes, carrots, cantaloupe, lettuce, broccoli and carrots. When swallowed, it is absorbed by the human body. It will then be converted by the body into vitamin A.

Vitamin A is essential to a healthy body growth especially to the eyesight. Likewise, it helps in the preservation and development of the teeth, skeletal tissue, skin and mucous membranes. A person with deficiency in vitamin A can develop poor vision and a risk of a disease. Also, overdose of it can cause birth defects and illness.

Eggs, dairy products, shellfish and meat are sources of vitamin B12. Vitamin B12 is water soluble which means that excess amount not utilized by the body will be rejected through urine. Usually, vitamins that are water soluble are not stored in the body but vitamin B12 can stay for years in the liver.

Vitamin B12 is important in the body for proper and faster metabolism (how the body uses and converts energy) and the red blood cells formation. It also helps in maintaining the correct function of the nervous system and of the brain. Lack of vitamin B12 in the body can cause weakness and numbness in the legs and arms and can also cause anemia.

Vitamin C is found in foods such as grapefruit potatoes, blueberries, tomatoes, cabbage, watermelon, lettuce, spinach and oranges. When consuming these foods, it is recommended to eat these slightly cooked or raw since vitamin C is sensitive to light and heat.

Vitamin C helps in the production of collagen, a protein in the skin and helps repair tissues, blood vessels and cartilage. It preserves healthy teeth and gums and heals burns and wounds. It also produces antibodies that help the body against infections and colds. There are studies also that it help prevent cancers, pre eclampsia and high blood pressure. Lack of vitamin C can cause dry hair, nosebleeds, anemia, increased risk of infections and colds.
